179 and Feelin Fine!

So I’m still a few days behind.  I can’t seem to get the hang of doing this regularly.  I will, though!  This post is yesterday AND the day before.  Yikes!  Plus, I have awesome news about my weight loss!

Thursday

I overslept and missed my alarm.  When I finally woke up, I had the boys I nanny for coming over soon.  I grabbed a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar and got to cleaning up.  After while I attempted to make a smoothie from an empty fruit bowl.  I had some frozen fruit, so I tried a combo of strawberries, blackberries & mangoes (all frozen) with OJ and kefir.  I didn’t have any kale or spinach, but I did have mustard greens.  Baaaaad idea!!  The seeds in the frozen berries did not blend well and the mustard greens made it super spicy!  I only drank about half of this.

For lunch I heated up half of a leftover sweet potato with some agave syrup and cinnamon.  I also made a salmon salad with spring salad, avocado, goat cheese gouda, salmon and I used the almond-basil pesto to make a dressing.  I talked about this in the last post.  It was really good.  I blended the pesto with some more olive oil, lime juice and some water.

I tried to get Kaitlyn to eat some sweet potatoes.  I told her, “Come on, they taste like candy”.  She looked at me, tilted her head and said,”That NOT candy”.  LOL!  She also kept eating only the cheese off my salad and finally said, “I LIKE salad”.  What a crack up!

I was so tired by the time dinner came around.  We had gone to Wal-Mart and I decided to stop by Taco Bell to get a Fresco Taco and bring it home to make a salad with spring salad mix, tomatoes and a homemade cilantro-avocado dressing

Friday

I can’t really remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday morning.  I may have possibly skipped it.  Eek!

I did have a yum yum lunch, though.  I took a piece of flat out and spread it with 1/4 of an avocado and some homemade black bean spread (black beans, garlic, EVOO, water and salt & pepper).  I had some spring salad mix with salsa as dressing and some organic blue corn chips with the leftover black bean spread on the side.  Very satisfying!

Somewhere along the way I ate a couple of Ryan’s gummy Lifesavers.

Ok, so my camera died before dinner.  I really, really wish it hadn’t because I wanted some proof of what I ate!!  We went to Hometown Buffet, which should have been horrible, but I did awesome!  My first plate had broiled fish, seasoned green beans, brussel sprouts, steamed carrots with pico de gallo and honeydew.  Since we were out to dinner, I decided to get a “treat”plate and a little dessert.  My “treat” plate consisted of a bite of pizza, a bite of a roll and a tostada topped with spring mix, pico de gallo, olives and chicken fajita fixins.  Sooo good!  My dessert was a sugar free Ranger cookie (what’s a Ranger cookie??) and a tiny bit of sugar free, fat free vanilla froyo.  I was really proud of myself.

I was even more proud of myself when I stepped on the scale this morning and it said 179!!  I have not seen the 170’s since I was pregnant with Ryan!!  I was so so happy.  I know its still a pretty large number, but it is a huge step for me.  Huge.  That gave me a lot of motivation and made me realize I am doing things right.  I have no counted a calorie in weeks (maybe over a month).  I just eat what I know is good for my body, try to stay as “clean” as possible and treat myself regularly.  I am really starting to see food and nutrition in a new light.  All the healthy lifestyle blogs I have been reading give me a lot of support, even though their authors have no idea.  This blog is titled See Mommy Lose, not See Mommy Eat so this morning prompted me to put my Weekly Weigh-In on the right side.  I need to start working out again and I will list my activities, too.  I also want to update my “Who I’m Reading” list tomorrow!

I have to tell you, today was a booring food day, but I will have a lot to talk about.  Ryan starts kindergarten on Monday and we are so excited!!

Night!

What is your biggest motivation?

A Day Behind…

This is yesterday’s happenings.  I was just so tired last night and couldn’t get in the mood all day today.

For breakfast, I had My Fave smoothie (in Pepsi cup again, so no pic) and a couple hours later an Apple Pie Larabar.  This was the first time I have tasted this flav and it was yum yum!

I was inspired by Gena, Choosing Raw, to make a Blended Salad.  I was a teensy bit afraid of the idea, so I started with a gazpacho base and then added a few “salad” ingredients.  Don’t ask me what was in it!  I will try again and keep track.  I also had some grilled tilapia with lime.

 IMG_1970 IMG_1971

For a snack later, I tried TJ’s Pom Greek Yogurt.  Not my fave.

IMG_1973

I have never ever tried an Amy’s frozen dinner (please don’t shoot!).  When we took a trip to Target, I decided to grab one for dinner.  It was delish!

IMG_1977

When I made my Blended Salad, I realized that I had a ton on basil that needed to be used like now.  I don’t think I have ever bought pine nuts,  so I decided to try making pesto using almonds.  It was okay, but nothing “wow”.  I actually used it today to make a salad dressing (more tomorrow), which was amazing but as a pesto it’s not fantastic.

This was a food heavy post.  I really tried to eat well today, so that is what my focus was on.  Besides, the boys I watch were over, so besides cleaning and solving fights over video games I didn’t do much.  I am going to go clean up the kitchen after being taken over by gnats, take a shower and head to bed!  Night!

Day Trip to Balboa

Why didn’t I post yesterday?  Well…I ate horribly and was too ashamed to show my face in the bloggy world.  I realized this morning that this is what the blog is for…not only to show how well I am doing, but keep me accountable when I fall.  That said….

For breakfast yesterday I made a huge smoothie with spinach.  Again, I used my favorite mix of banana, kiwi, peaches, mango, OJ, kefir, spinach & ice (from now on “My Fave”).   I drank it out of a AM/PM Pepsi cup, so there is really no good picture.

A couple hours later, I drank and Inko’s White Tea (yum!) with a Chocolate Brownie Pure Bar.  I’ve only seen two flavors of Pure Bars in the stores…I wish I could find more!!

Before I worked out with my trainer at the gym I ate PB & Agave on a Sandwich Thin.  I was in the break room and didn’t have my camera.  I told my trainer that I was exhausted so he didn’t have to kill me, so of course he did!  I am sooo sore today.  It was my last session with him since I am leaving the club and he gave me an awesome workout to do on my own.

After my workout, the kiddies and I headed to Balboa park to meet Gigi (my mom), Sarah (my sister-in-law) and my nephews, Asher & Ari.  On the way, we stopped at McD’s.  Boo, Mommy!  I think I got the best option…Grilled Chicken Sandwich with no mayo and a Diet Coke.

Asher & Kaitlyn had a lot of fun at the park, but Ryan was screaming that his left side hurt.  I think the cup of my smoothie he drank for breakfast gave him tummy problems.  He actually fell asleep in K’s stroller.

IMG_1745 IMG_1777 IMG_1759 IMG_1782 IMG_1811

He started to feel better when we walked around Balboa and really felt better when we got to the ginormous water fountain that he and Asher got to play in.

It was a nice day and we got home just in time for bedtime.  Oh, I almost forgot the worst food of the day.  It was so late and I hadn’t planned for dinner.  We needed gas, so we stopped at AM/PM and everyone got dinner.   I had 1/2 pizza.  Badder Mommy!

Here’s to hoping for a better foodie day today!

When I Grow Up…

Tonight the kiddies and me made cheese pizza for dinner.  I used Greek Pita Flatbread as the crust and tomato sauce with Italian herbs.  We topped them each with low-fat mozzarella (mine had chopped basil).  We had a side of seedless black grapes.                                                          IMG_1734

Kaitlyn Bug went to bed pretty quickly, but Ryan fell asleep on the couch.  I really need to pull myself off the couch and get ready for tomorrow.  Last weekday morning at work!  Woohoo!!

If you could quit working and do whatever you wanted, what would you do?

Bedtime is Bliss Time

Today has been a trying day with Hubby out of town.  The kiddies are running me ragged.

We were so late to work, so on the way I drank a green smoothie.  Today’s had 1/2 banana, a kiwi, a peach, OJ, ice, plain kefir and spinach.  It was good, but nothing amazing.  I keep forgetting to put flax seeds in my smoothie.  I also want to start adding another green veggie.  I also ate the other half of the banana.                                                    IMG_1716      IMG_1718

We got the OK from the GM of my work for one of my employees to take over when I leave next week.  Yay!  Ashley will do amazing!!  After the meeting, I took a snack break…1/2 mango & TJ’s honey Greek yogurt.                                                                           IMG_1723

It was such a long morning full of interviews and scheduling, so I decided to just leave and eat lunch in the car…kelp noodles, scallions, cucumbers, soy sauce & cherry tomatoes.IMG_1726

This kiddies and I had to rush home to get Ryan’s registration papers, run to Staples for a rental agreement and hurry up to his Kindergarten registration.  It took way longer than I originally thought and we all needed a snack.  I didn’t bring my camera with me in the building, though.  I had a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar (my favorite) and some of the kids seedless black grapes.

Bedtime will be bliss time tonight!  See yall later.

A New Beginning –Again!

Ok…honesty time!  I have started this blog three times!!  Something has gone wrong each time!  Forgot camera, remembered camera with no memory card/batteries, ate bad, etc.  We are going to try this one last time.

Here is my original introduction…

Welcome to my first step into the virtual world!

Since I discovered Google Reader (awesome!),  I have been reading a ton of blogs about a million different subjects.  My favorites have been the mommy blogs and the health blogs.  I was so inspired by these fantastic women that I have decided to blog about both!

When my son was born, he weighed almost 12 lbs!  Needless to say, I gained WAY too much weight!  I lost 30 lbs, but kept the other 45.  Even when I got pregnant with my daughter, I gained only 30 lbs and lost it immediately, but was exactly back to where I was after I had my son.  Boo!  Unlike Jen, The Perfect Balance, I was/am one of those moms that lost with themselves, husband and friends (what are friends?).  My weight loss and health became last on my list…my happiness a close second to last.  I now focus on the health, well-being and happiness of my kiddies.  Hubby is next after them.

Join me through the ups and downs of “Eating Clean”, losing weight and finding myself while being the best mommy & wife I can be!  In other words….

See Mommy Lose!!
